Dr. Bergsma

. … .I have come to find that the inspiration for art can come from just about anywhere that you can find truth. When I saw that Fallible Blogma had a peoples choice award for the top 100 Catholic speakers, and was asking website and blog owners to write a post about a Catholic speaker from the list I could could not help but to notice one that stood out as one of my inspirations.
.
. .Dr. John Bergsma is currently one of my professors here at Franciscan University and one that has been a great mentor in and out of the classroom. Being able to witness Dr. Bergsma as a teacher, speaker, and a solid Catholic father has been a delight, a great example of practicing what you preach.
While I could go on about Dr. Bergsma’s interesting background and conversion I would rather just point you to JohnBergsma.com.

. .Pictured here is one of his stick figures representing David in the Psalms. I have never seen such great stick figures biblical portrayals! In fact, his stick figure drawings of salvation history has inspired a gospel tune I’m working on. Furthermore his sharing of the truth of creation was one of my great motivators for starting Likable Art and our motto ‘Like the art, Love the creator.’ It is so easy as an artist to want to look purely introspectively for inspiration, but it is in recognizing creation as God’s first piece of art, and everything we create is just reflecting his beauty, that we free ourselves to create something worth while.
